Received care from neonatal intensive care unit
Mariana was born with Persistent Pulmonary Hypertension of a Newborn (PPHN) meaning she did not have enough oxygen reaching her lungs. Children’s National Hospital’s rapid helicopter transport service, SkyBear, rushed her to Children’s National, where she received life-saving care in our neonatal intensive care unit for a month. Today, at age 6, Mariana loves to sing, dance, and loves to color and paint. Her favorite color is purple and she does ballet! “She giggles all the time”, says her older sister, Gabriela. “I’m grateful for everyone at Children’s National. I have my little sister because of that place.” This year, Mariana was chosen to be Children’s Miracle Network 2023 National Champion!
