Dopa-Responsive Dystonia
As a toddler, Colton had trouble walking and was experiencing muscle spasms, cramped feet, and unusual gait. After frequent visits to the emergency department, Colton was diagnosed with Dopa-responsive dystonia. The doctors at Children’s National Hospital prescribed him L-dopa, which helped him walk more smoothly. His mother says, ‘he’s just a rare person. He always has a smile on his face. He’s always happy, always telling a joke. He’s very unaffected by it.’ Today, Colton enjoys biking and swimming with his little brother Connor!
